Makro Distribución Mayorista and Salvesen Logística reached an agreement last year for the management of its first multi-channel and multi-temperature regional platform in Catalonia, located in El Prat de Llobregat (Barcelona).
The platform has a surface area of 14,000 m² with 30 loading and unloading docks. All cold rooms dedicated to storage and picking are prepared to house products of any temperature range (from -25ºC to +25ºC), which provides operational flexibility. It also has a large refrigerated area for carrying out Cross-Docking activities. This platform serves end customers in Catalonia, Zaragoza, Castellón and Mallorca and is a point of consolidation and forwarding of local suppliers to other Makro distribution centers.
Makro is the largest hostelry distributor on the market and, thanks to this regional platform, the company makes more than 5,000 products of different categories available to its customers and a distribution capacity of up to 3,000 daily orders. With this agreement, Makro has sought in Salvesen the guarantee of excellence in service, high standards of operational quality, full guarantee in the supply chain with regard to food safety and sensitivity and environmental and social policy projects.
